In previous posts, I have mentioned that I had the good fortune to be treated at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance which includes the world renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. We, in the Seattle area, take great pride in the ground-breaking research done at "The Hutch" and the Nobel Prizes they have been awarded. It has been a
blessing, indeed, to have been treated by Fred Hutchinson doctors and
have a center of this caliber so nearby. I am eternally grateful to the
doctors and staff at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
Here is a link to their website and an article about their pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation:

For two years I was part of the Swim Across America fund-raiser for Seattle's Cancer Care Alliance and the 'Hutch' and am grateful for all they do as I have a relative with MM that gets great medical care from SCCA... intending they are doing as much for you!
ReplyDeleteDo you live in the Seattle area? I would like to thank you for being a part of that fundraiser for SCCA and the Hutch. I can't say enough about the fabulous care I received there during my stem cell transplant. I hope your relative with MM is doing well.

Carole, I know exactly how you feel about the superb care you've received. I live in Houston, and on days when I start to see the dark side of my soul, I pull myself out of it by realizing how blessed I am to have
ReplyDeleteM. D. Anderson here. We are both so fortunate. Lovey
Yes, we are indeed fortunate! And we are fortunate because of the advances that have been made in the last few years for treating this disease. Hurray for medical science!

I read your story on Phil's blog. I want to encourage you and not be fearful. I was diagnosed 2004 with MM and given a month to live. I used natural means but 2010 and 2011 were trying and the MM came alive again. I am now on Velcade 1/2 dose 4 weeks on and 1 off, although I get bigger breaks now and then. My first dose of chemo was in April this year. I am doing extremely well. I was not a candidate for transplant. I have a website and blog. www.healingcancernaturally.net and that will also connect to my blog. The reason I mention this I take a supplement, poly mva and I beleive it has cut down on my neuropathy. All the best and don't give up!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my blog and thank you for your encouragement. After my stem cell transplant for maintenance, I was on the same Velcade regimen as you. I finished that in October. Velcade has been good to me.
